This course helps Australian restoration, cleaning, indoor air quality, facility, strata, insurance-support and professional remediation teams communicate calmly, report correctly, protect workers, stay within scope, document field work and avoid unsupported claims about H5 bird flu.
It is for professionals who may receive questions about sick or dead birds, field documentation, building contamination concerns or client communication during the current Australian H5 bird flu detections in migratory seabirds.
This course is not veterinary training, wildlife handling training, public-health diagnosis, government biosecurity response training or product endorsement training. It follows the official Australian Government and Australian Centre for Disease Control reporting pathway: do not touch sick or dead birds, record what you see and report to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

It does not replace any authority. Government, veterinary, wildlife and public-health authorities direct the response to an emergency animal disease. Their directions come first, always.
Reporting: if you suspect an emergency animal disease — including H5 bird flu — do not touch the animal. Record what you see and report it to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888, then follow the instructions you are given.
Multiple sick or dead birds or animals, or an unusual pattern of sickness or death, are strong signals — but a single animal can also be reportable, depending on the species, the signs and the current situation. If in doubt, call.
If you are concerned about human illness or human exposure, this hotline is not the right channel — seek medical advice from your doctor or health service, and tell your employer.
Testing and verification are the laboratory's domain, not ours. The information, framework and procedures in this course must be carefully aligned with the testing measures and procedures of the NATA-accredited laboratory engaged for your work.
Confirm the laboratory's scope of accreditation covers the specific test — NATA accreditation is granted per method, not as a blanket. Where this course and your laboratory's procedures differ, the laboratory's procedures apply.
A laboratory result is not a clearance. Laboratory testing does not override the directions, approvals, quarantine controls or clearance decisions of government, veterinary, biosecurity or public-health authorities. Those authorities decide when a site is released — not this course, not your laboratory, and not you.
