RIA Webinar

Interview with RIA

Phill, CEO of CARSI, met with Owen Boak, President of RIA Australasia.
Owen has been working in the restoration industry for 30 years. He has been involved with the RIA for 15 years, working with them in both the US and Australia. Owen’s career began in the IICRC, through which he was introduced to the RIA as a trade association.
Introducing recently appointed Advocate, Marcus has a diverse professional background in insurance, government, and claims. Due to his extensive work in claims, he has a good understanding of the industry. However, he gained a deeper understanding of restoration after working with his own team and realized the complexity of restoration work.

During the conversation, Owen, Phill and Marcus stress the importance of understanding the industry’s value proposition. They highlight that the association fosters a sense of belonging for organizations of all sizes.

Moreover, the RIA aims to create a career path for individuals and improve the industry’s professionalism. Additionally, they discuss that the RIA is now an independent registered association in Australia.

”By default, restoring rather than repairing and rebuilding is always going to be better for you from an environmental perspective.”

Owen Boak

RIA — President

”I’m proud to walk alongside some of the people who I’ve looked up to over the years.”

Phill McGurk

CARSI — CEO

”The best thing about this, is now we have a voice where before we didn’t have a voice, and I I think that’s what we’ve got to take out of this.”
